Miuccia Prada did not have to eat this hard on a Tuesday morning, yet, here we are drooling over her latest lineup for the beloved label. One of the final shows this Paris Fashion Week, the collection, debuted at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris, oozes wearability, seen through tantalizing pieces capable of lasting longer than just one respective season.

Putting an emphasis on memories, as demonstrated in a film that preceded the show dubbed RECEPTION!, the collection is a vernacular journey of clothing, from preadolescence to adulthood. “Concurrent gestures express different moments in life – they coexist within single outfits, just as we each hold simultaneous memories of our own experience,” as expressed in the collection notes.

Duality at the fore, the collection transitions from classic preppy Miu Miu vibes to mature working woman, ready for her 9 to 5 metropolis career. Menswear carries a similar tune, where staple tailoring seemingly sharp and precise, is quite playful in nature. A childlike demeanor takes over the collection’s fabrics and silhouettes, where right and wrong marry to create wrinkled and creased clothing, untucked collars, and ample layered skirts.

Elsewhere, sweaters and cardigans are drizzled in silk and cashmere, poplin skirts are coated in knit, and shearling emulates precious fur interesting enough to brush. Button-down fabrics were turned into chic midi dresses, demure staples were played up with tacky motifs reminiscent of 2000s maximalism, and skinny jeans made a special appearance- proving that if anyone is going to make the return of the denim style official, it’s going to be Mrs. Prada.

Closet classics like the blazer and skirt set, luxurious furs, buttoned overcoats, and loads of Prada references (I mean, duh) are paraded down the runway. The show was also abundant in characters, ranging from Kristin Scott Thomas, Dara Allen, Gigi Hadid, Ethel Cain, Guillaume Diop, Luther Ford, Angel Haze, Qin Huilan, Little Simz, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Ángela Molina, who are all graceful embodiments of the Miu Miu anima.

An incohesive color palette is painted across the looks, with definitive blues, greys, whites, black, and chocolate browns adding to the mature factor, whilst colorful neon green, bright yellow, pinks and purples, orange, scarlet, cerulean blue, and a dreamy mint hue complemented the animated aesthetic.

Accessories give off a dress-up time feel, where giant gloves are boldly paired with tailored sets and chic dresses, color blocking is recklessly cool, and diamanté embellishments make dreary garments elegant. Pearl necklaces are contrasted by sleek but oddly thrown-on sunglasses, and classic Miu Miu top handle bags were folded into models arms. Footwear exists in skinny loafers, delicate slippers, flat Mary Janes, and sculptured low-pointed heels.

Miuccia Prada knows exactly what women and men want when it comes to her namesake brand, and she is not afraid to break a few rules in her approach to dressing.
