MJ Rodriguez Enters the World of Music with “Something To Say”

The actress makes her debut as Michaela Jaé

As groundbreaking FX television series “POSE” nears its end, actress Mj Rodriguez steps from one medium to the next, making her transition to the music world with her debut single, “Something To Say,” branching out with the name Michaela Jaé.

Written with PWP, comprised of Verdine White of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Grammy winner Neal Pogue, and John Paris, the track embodies the kind of inspirational vibe that “POSE” does as a whole. The song is all about embracing your truths, making your voice be heard, over chants like “Speak up! Stand out! Wake up!

The song even imbues itself with some strong retro and soul energy, embracing a love for pop and disco in its sonic aesthetic. It’s reminiscent of a good Earth, Wind, and Fire song, or something right out of Daft Punk from Random Access Memories. It’s upbeat and joyous and will make you feel the spirit of the song, just coursing through your veins.

Rodriguez is currently playing Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista on “POSE,” for which the series finale is scheduled to air this Sunday. In the meantime, check out Michaela Jaé’s “Something To Say” below:
