Roots:

I wrote this song just before the release of my debut album No Mythologies To Follow back in early 2014. I remember sitting in my room in Copenhagen feeling restless, melancholic and a bit anxious. I had this feeling of not knowing where I belonged anymore and not knowing where I was headed. But it was not a bad feeling. I knew I was on the brink of a new area in my life—which was scary but also exciting—and so I wrote this song about being in doubt about who you are and what you're becoming. In doubt about whether you're good enough and whether you're ever gonna find a solid ground to plant your roots, stand tall and bloom for the world to see.

When I Was Young:

As the title reveals, this song is about looking back. It's about longing for a lost past and the feeling of freedom and youth. I did this song together with a little group of people whom I love writing with and our main inspiration was simply just the sentiment of growing older and not really wanting to face the obligations and responsibility plus the harsh reality of life and adulthood. We always glorify the past and our youth (even though the fact is it wasn't AT ALL easy to be a confused teenager!) and this song is doing just that.

Nostalgia has always been a key player in my songwriting cause within that space I find a great deal of inspiration. It may sound sad, but for me it's a very positive and uplifting feeling, and so even though the lyrics in this song are a bit mellow the instrumental chorus is there to celebrate the happiness and euphoria of the lost good times.

Turn My Heart To Stone:

Back in the day I had a tendency to fall in love with people who were very challenging to be in a relationship with. But truth was I just loved the fire and the drama. The song is reflecting on  one such situation. About being with a person who is bad for you but at the same time it feels so good, even though you know it’s wrong and that you should get out of it as soon as possible. You want to be strong but you're not ready to wake up from the dream that you have sedated yourself with just yet.

Linking With You:

"Linking With You" is about being in love with somebody and obsessing about “playing the game” right. I think a lot of people are familiar with this scenario where you are trying SO HARD to play it cool, but in fact you just wanna text this person 200 times a day and tell them how much you long for their touch and attention, but instead you don't contact them for 3 weeks.

Bb:

I wrote this song in the end of 2014 as a tribute to my boyfriend in the case of him breaking up with me. It was just in the beginning of our relationship and I was so in love, and even though I never told him, this was secretly a song I wrote imagining how I would feel if he left me. I'm still with him today so I don't feel like I have to be secretly about this fact anymore—now I just think it's cute that I was such a lovestruck little birdy back then.

Run Away:

My oldest friend (the same girl to whom I wrote "Nights With You") is a film maker and she was doing this short film reflecting on our childhood (we've known each other since we were 3 years old) back in 2015 and asked me to do a song for it. So I wrote this one, and it's about being or just "feeling" like a child - growing up in a world you don't fully understand, filled with people who don't seem to get you. It's about daydreaming in the suburbs and feeling overlooked by the adults, while secretly you're plotting on one day leaving it all behind searching your own truth. We probably all know how hard it can be to find the courage to follow through with the dreams we bare in our hearts, and this song is about the struggle to overcome that and grow to become yourself.
