Molly Goddard Evolves Forward For London Fashion Week

Molly Goddard unveils her SS23 collection at London Fashion Week.

The Molly Goddard SS 23 collection debuted this weekend at London Fashion Week, the line was the expected walking confection of tulle the designer is known for. Ruffles in neon and pastel worked their way down the runway paired with the designers’ take on the dress shirt. A more wearable option for those not quite so daring. Western boots and leather flats in bright patterns wera worn by the models creating a more casual finish to the usual high-heels and platforms shown by the designer “I was thinking about red carpets pre-internet. These are images I love and often go to for inspiration, dressing felt more for the party and for yourself. Much more casual, laid back.” the designer commented in regards to her collection. The models moved easily, walking across a gymnasium instead of a strobe-light studded runway giving off an easy, street-style vibe to the show. Goddard showed a series of separates, many of which still ruffled but in less bulky fabrics.

For the pièce de résistance Goddard finished off her show with bridal-esque dresses in ivory complete with signature Goddard volume. The final dresses feel  indicative of the fact that Goddard has expanded the brand into bridal gowns earlier this year with a twelve piece collection for the contemporary bride in an eggshell and bright white. The evenings takeaway was that Goddard is in fact more than a one-ruffle pony intent on evolving the brand forward  while maintaining the playfulness we all love.
