Moncler Genius Releases Utilitarian Capsule 5 With Craig Green
Functional and fashionable
Italian luxury ski-wear label Moncler taps British designer Craig Green in the latest release of Moncler’s ongoing Genius project. The Genius project has worked with various other top designers including Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn, and Pierpaolo Piccioli representing a composition of different styles under one house.
For the fifth collection to top off 2019, Green explores the dialog between body and form in this capsule as something of a performance. Imagined in three-dimensional modules, the iconic puffer style is inspired by the properties of down filling, and how a small quantity of the feathery material has the ability to fill a much larger space. Rooted in functionality and workwear, the collection is made for functionality with a paneled structure that is able to fold down into a compact shape.
As the 3rd edition of Green’s involvement with the Genius Project, this collection represents the designer’s origins in creating artful pieces that are functional. “Moncler have a strong heritage but still embrace change. They encourage an experimental approach and are not afraid of taking risks, which makes them a great collaborative partner and what I believe is unique about the Genius project” says Green.
