Moncler, Mercedes-Benz, and Japanese designer NIGO have joined forces to create their first ever purchasable product: the exclusive G-Class Past II Future. This partnership introduced both a limited-edition G-Class vehicle and a gender-neutral fashion collection, blending automotive design with streetwear aesthetics. In October 2024, the trio unveiled a collaborative project during the “City of Genius” event in Shanghai, showcasing their creativity to the public with only 20 vehicles made – with a cold, hard throwback to the ’80s and ’90s heritage of Moncler’s sleek, futuristic designs.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz-G-Class Past II Future pairs the iconic G-Class tartan pattern, honoring the first original G-Class in 1979, with high-quality leather – creating a timeless space within. The G-Class Past II Future also features a custom sound system – built for power and clarity and designed by no other than New York’s Devon Turnbell.

Alongside the vehicle, collaborator NIGO introduced a fashion line reflecting 1990s urban and utilitarian culture. The collection includes items such as college jackets, hoodies, checked shirts, bermuda shorts, lightweight puffers, parkas, and windbreakers. The color palette features blue, black, green, and white, accented with touches of orange. Graphic prints combine archival images with Moncler and Mercedes-Benz logos.

The launch was nothing less than a tribute to 45 years of the G-Class legacy and an elegant stride towards the future, taking place in the newly opened Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan flagship dealership. Friends of the collaborators came to celebrate, including Alton Mason, Chloe Wise, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Joey Badass, Kaws, Miles Chamley-Watson, Peyton List, Quil Lemons, Tobe & Fat Nwigwe.

Guests entered through a blacked-out elevator-turned-time machine, landing in a vintage car gallery before moving into a futuristic showroom reimagined as a dining hall. Trunks became bars, and culinary creations from Nami Nori and pastry chef Eunjin Lee added a luxe, automotive-inspired touch.

The night captured a sleek collision of eras—where heritage met innovation and style drove the story forward.
