The dark sea glimmering under the night sky, a beautiful summer scene under the moon.
That’s what inspired much of Emporio Armani’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, “The Essence of the Night,” which featured extremely lightweight and fluid styles seen through a moonlight filter.
Inspired by both East Asian and North African fashion heritage, the pieces constantly flowed as the models walked—creating a cool energy with timeless silhouettes. The black runway glistened as the only lights, above and outlining the stage, acted as the white light from the moon.
The color palette is much of what you would expect—white, sand, and black, with outfits blending a combination of the three or showing off one in monochrome. The brand amplified the space between the body and the dress. Low-cut lines seemingly remained in motion, keeping that fluid flow to the pieces that exemplifies breathability.
Robe jackets, wide pants, and sleeveless tunics, with embroidered shorts, sweaters, and blazers were championed by long duster coats. Long beaded or glimmering necklaces, knitted shoes, and bags with that signature nighttime shine completed the romantic silhouettes.
East Asian aspiration came back with the sole motif throughout the collection, the gingko. The 250-million-year old tree, native to China, represented endurance and elegance. With the stylized motif adorning fabric and necklaces, the collection came together as something both timeless and forward-reaching.
For an inside look at the show’s happenings, VMAN followed model Mathieu Simoneau along for the day as he got ready to strut down the catwalk for the house’s latest men’s show in Milan.
