The route fashion took this FW18 has been mapped out over the past few weeks, allowing for future trends and recurring themes to reveal themselves. Flash forward to Milan and witness the most unexpected out-of-this-world presentations, including Jeremy Scott’s swinging ‘60s, conspiracy-theoried pop-art Moschino collection. Scott’s FW18 presentation and collection read both retro and futuristic, which in reality is a total paradox, but here, it works as a satisfying collision of flavors.

The details surrounding JFK and Marilyn Monroe’s relationship have been spotlit for decades, but the theory that Mr. President told Monroe that aliens are indeed real and then the C.I.A. offed her after she threatened to leak the classified information to this press, is a conspiracy for the ages. With a UFO setting in place, the runway delivers pure 1960s nostalgia, with Kaia Gerber styled as a mini-Moschino Jackie O complete with a pillbox hat and signature full, mid-length blowout. A parade of Jackies follow, styled nearly identical to the last, but in true form, Scott added his colorful two cents.

Models in full neon body paint begin to emerge, as well as pill-popping pop-art printed dresses disguised as cereal box advertisements. As the collection evolved, Scott manipulated the conversation adding in glamorous gala gowns constructed with both silk and sequins, straying from a Jackie persona and more so into a Marilyn embodiment. Fitted to each model perfectly with elegant shimmer and poise, a seasoned Gigi Hadid closed the show in a pastel aqua gown, bringing this presentation in full blonde circle.

However risky or bizarre it may be, Jeremy Scott takes immense pride in his work by putting every single creative nerve towards his work as a designer. Moschino put Scott on the international stage and if one thing is clear, it’s that he never takes his platform for granted.
