Moses Sumney joined NPR’s ongoing Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series once again Monday, singing a variety of tracks from his latest album Græ. 

The NPR concert was recorded from the comfort of Sumney’s North Carolina home. In between tracks, Sumney took sips of tea, shared some humor and commented on specifics of his album Græ which was released back in May.

“I’m performing songs off of my new album which I released in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, so that was fun,” Sumney told NPR contributor Jason King. “With this album, I was like yo, I could die any minute so let me sing all the high notes but also all the low notes and also, also, also.” 

Græ is a deeply intimate album arriving just in time for quarantine as most of the songs are about isolation and loneliness. Back in December, before the pandemic and at-home concerts, Sumney released a video of his song Polly where he ironically sat at home in front of a computer screen.

NPR was publishing Tiny Desk Concerts before the pandemic, but later the show turned into Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts as the coronavirus spread across the globe. NPR has featured numerous artists such as John Legend, Lyric Jones and Lenny Kravitz.
