Mr. Saturday Blends Bauhaus and Americana for FW22
Designer Joey Gollish connects past and present to shift the future.

In a collection featuring 34 looks, Mr. Saturday’s “Radio On” focuses on the nostalgia of nightlife to rework the past into the future. Headed by founder and creative designer Joey Gollish, the Fall/Winter 2022 collection looks to pioneering German band Kraftwerk, whose contribution to art performance can be a prominent reference. “I think we’re all children of Kraftwerk and Bauhaus, even more so than you’d think,” said Gollish – speaking to the signatures of red and black that mark the retro silhouettes. The outerwear stands out this season, fusing the retro with Americana through addition glossy trench coats, padded moto jackets, and sherpa coats expand the designer’s foray. You cannot fashion nightlife without fetishwear, but the label doesn’t forget, adding touches of body harnesses and face obscuring balaclavas. ‘Radio On’ points towards an evolution for Mr. Saturday, accessories being an expanded venture for the brand. Sunglasses are streamlined by their retro silhouette, while handbags such as the ‘Patricia’ and ‘Clara’ aid the androgynous styling of each look.
