MSGM Men’s Fall/Winter 2020
Blending dark aesthetic of horror with the label’s playful heritage.
Marrying together cinematography, horror, and fashion, the MSGM Fall/Winter 2020 menswear show brought a dark and mysterious aesthetic to the runway in Milan. Highlighted by a collaboration between MSGM creative director Massimo Giorgetti and horror film director Dario Argento, the range resulted in a delicious blend of the label’s playful energy with the sense of darkness one usually finds in horror cinematography.

Inspired by Argento’s passion for colors, Giorgetti dreamed up a palette of saturated reds, pinks and greens combined with shades of nocturnal black. The designer also made use of posters of some of Argento’s most famous movies, such as The Cat o’ Nine Tails, Phenomena and Suspiria, along with robust prints and details of monsters and blood splatters that emerged on sweaters. Throughout the collection, Giorgetti managed to seamlessly blend tailored suiting and outerwear with MSGM’s distinctive spirit of cool: over-dyed washed denim, big puffers, jacquard anoraks and corduroy ensembles.

This punkish-yet-polished collection is just what Milan runway needed—full of trippy prints (such as carnivorous plants and mushrooms) and references to youth movements from the ‘80s and ‘90s. See the full collection in the video below:
