The Mudd Pearl girls are reimagining what pearls signify for people living in the 21st century. The rising jewelry brand launched this February and has already been worn by celebrities such as Emrata, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Aptow, Salem Mitchell, Joe Jonas and others. The retail website was launched July 9, featuring a campaign shot by Carolyne Loreé starring models Lovisa Lager and Jabari Flemings.

Founded in February of 2021 by female co-owners Yasmin Moon & Mary Anderson, Mudd Pearl has already developed a growing cult following. The launch of the campaign and ecommerce site is a major upgrade from shooting their products on each other and selling them on Depop.

“Directing something was a great opportunity to view Mudd Pearl from a 360 degree angle. When conceptualizing the campaign I kept thinking about a stripped down version of the past two years meshed with the roots of where my personal style has evolved,” said co-founder Yasmin Moon.

During quarantine, the ladies had more free time on their hands and dedicated it to building the brand. It was a project that first started out as only playing around with pearls and selling it to friends then it organically grew into a business. “There’s beauty in the stark unknown, which felt really fitting for the feeling of starting a new business from the ground up. With Carolyne Loreé’s clean romantic eye, our vision came together in ways I didn’t even expect. I’m so happy with it!” said Moon.

The idea around the brand started with replicating the healing mechanics of an oyster. No two necklaces are alike, each Mudd necklace has its own personality with inspiration coming from the pearls themselves. “The way a pearl is created is similar to the human condition of healing. The oyster creates a smooth coating around a small trauma in order to co-exist with it and each method of protection is so individualized it could never be exact. Holding a pearl is like holding a physical manifestation of one’s own resilience,” said the cofounders.

The girls value community, beauty in irregularities, and of course hot girl shit. Every Mudd Pearl is handmade through a delicate process of stringing individual pearls, while curating the brand’s signature aesthetic of organic symmetry. Each piece can act as grounding totems, works of art, or both.
