Mycelium Magic: Alexander McQueen Debuts AW22 Campaign

The fashion house recruits master photographer Paolo Roversi to channel universal interconnectivity in the latest autumnal collection

Alexander McQueen unveils their AW22 campaign featuring models Awar Odhiang, Achenrin Madit, Lucia Fairfull, Celina Ralph, Wang, and Florence Nicholls. In addition, the McQueen team recruits house regular and acclaimed photographer Paolo Roversi to photograph the mycelium-inspired garments, capturing the interconnected power and nature of the collection.

Celina wears a black beetled dress with an exploded ruffle neckline and asymmetric drape skirt, photographed by Paolo Roversi.
Awar wears the black slashed bustier dress with a draped skirt, black jeweled satchel bag, and antique silver studs, photographed by Paolo Roversi.

“Mycelium connects even the rooftop of the tallest skyscraper to the plants, to the grass, to the ground, to animals, and to human beings. Mycelium has the most profound, interconnecting power, relaying messages through a magical underground structure, allowing trees to reach out to each other when either they or their young need help or are sick. The idea is humbling—beautiful—and, of course, a metaphor for interconnection and for community between people, between us all. We exist as single, individual entities on one level, but we are far more powerful connected to each other, to our families, to our friends, to our community,” states Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen.

Achenrin wears a bright yellow beetled deconstructed corset dress with an asymmetric skirt, photographed by Paolo Roversi.
Celina wears bright yellow and black spore print double-breasted tailored jacket and cigarette trousers, photographed by Paolo Roversi.
