NAHMIAS Autumn/Winter 23 Collection
With knitwear and patchwork denim, Dani Nahmias and Kodak Black offer a fresh take on California romanticism.
Raised in Summerland, a small coastal town in California, Doni Nahmias bridges the worlds of skate, basketball, surf, and hip-hop in his eponymous label, NAHMIAS. For the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2023 collection, “California Poetry,” Nahmias was inspired by his personal collection of vintage clothing, as well as 90’s Hip-Pop style.
Knitwear and denim are prominent features across the collection, with patchwork denim making an appearance in both outerwear and trousers, as well as knits taking shape as sweaters and appliqués on denim and chinos. Given that poppies are the California state flower, Nahmias has incorporated them in the collection in a variety of ways. To that end, silk garments are adorned with custom poppies created by the in-house painter at NAHMIAS.
The collection also features an exclusive capsule with American rapper Kodak Black. Small details, such as lyrics from Black’s personal notebook imprinted on a faux fur overcoat, leave an intimate marking to commemorate Black’s first foray into design.
In totality, this is a collection that merges soft, California romanticism with an athletic, hip-hop influence. The result is something that feels bohemian, but in a way we haven’t quite seen before.
