Naomi Campbell Closes YSL Paris Show & Pays Tribute

Naomi Campbell stole the show as she closed for YSL.

Showstopper and legend, Naomi Campbell started fashion week in Paris by closing out Yves Saint Laurent’s Summer 2020 show. Hosted at the Trocadéro, the show was every bit as chic and stunning as you would expect it to be. Lights covered the runway as the Eiffel Tower glimmered in the background, giving the show an unreal feeling. All of the pieces were sleek and near-perfection, featuring velvet jackets over leather shorts and fitted one-shoulder cheetah print dresses.

Naomi Campbell stole the show as she closed. A vision of designer Anthony Vaccarello’s, combining both masculine-feminine tailoring, Campbell wore a fabulous form fitting, low-cut, elaborate black tuxedo  that gave an “asphalt-like” shine.

Campbell, who credited Saint Laurent in 2008 for her success in the fashion industry, shared a heartfelt tribute on her social media platforms to the designer. Campbell’s tweet read, “Mr. Yves Saint Laurent you believed in me and stood by my side when I needed it most!! Grateful for you and for all the memories we’ve made together over the years.. Kind hearted, creative genius and fashion visionary!! We miss you dearly.”

“He was the king of fashion,” Campbell told Vogue in an interview after Saint Laurent passed in 2008. “He created pret-a-porter, he was the first designer to put women of colour on the runway. He was extremely important in my career, giving me one of my first jobs.He has done everything. He’s done it. If you go to the museum you will see he has done it all. He has done so much for people of colour.”
