New Music Friday: Charli xcx, Bad Gyal, Skip Marley and More

New music Friday featuring some of V’s current favorites
Spring is edging us. The city sludge has begun to melt, and downtown “it-girls” are shedding their faux minks to leather. The winter is gloomy here; one is fortunate if one’s apartment faces south. The tonality of the city tends to match its appearance, salt crunching beneath the heels, shovels screeching against ice. To commemorate the eagerly-awaited coming of the new season, we’re ushering it in the only way we know how: with a lineup of new releases as fresh as the air finally drifting through an open window.

Charli xcx’s ‘Wuthering Heights ‘
First is arguably the most anticipated of the bunch, Charli xcx’s sonic reiteration of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Wuthering Heights. Regardless of one’s thoughts, Margot Robbie is our Cathy, and Jacob Elordi is our Heathcliff. Being the first body of work post Brat, hopes are high, and auditoriums will be full!

Lykke Li’s ‘Lucky Again’
When spring emerges, regardless of a groundhog, hope tends to follow. International recording artist Lykke Li understood that feeling of impending promise in her newest single, “Lucky Again.” Lykke Li spent nearly two decades shaping her own lane in the industry, one that is emotional, precise, and intimate. No wonder she is modern pop’s most enduring voice.
“Lucky Again,” the first track to be released from her forthcoming album The Afterparty, marks a bold reinvention for the Sweden-born and globally heralded artist. “I was twirling around in love addiction for all those albums,” she says. “Now I’m going into my existential era.”

Skip Marley ‘One Love’
Skip Marley pays homage to his iconic grandfather Bob Marley with his rendition of the Wailers’ classic “One Love,” out now across all platforms. Skip’s rendition both upholds a longstanding family tradition and honors Bob Marley’s enduring cultural legacy, bridging generations through music, style, and message. “One Love” has always belonged to the people. My grandfather’s music continues to uplift and inspire people to stand for something greater than themselves. That message still moves the world today.”

Cruz Beckham ‘For Your Love ‘
Cruz Beckham (yes, son of David and Victoria) shares new single “For Your Love”. Lyrically, the track is remnant of the beauty of love, sacrifice, desire, and the undeniable pull of loving fearlessly. Last month, Cruz announced his debut headline show, The Breakers, at The Courtyard Theatre in London on March 27, which sold out in a matter of minutes. Shortly after he announced a full UK and EU tour, kicking off in Birmingham on February 25, before journeying to Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Southampton, Brighton, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin, before culminating in three nights in London at The Courtyard Theatre.

Mr. Fantasy ‘One Last Night’
Rising star and viral sensation, Mr. Fantasy wants you to be his Valentine with the release of his brand-new mid-tempo synth pop serenade ‘One Last Night.’ Accompanied by a music video, Mr. Fantasy searches for love in the wilderness – Mr. Fantasy shared this message to his fans about the single, “This song is my stepping out into the wilderness, it is the wake of my heart, it is my redeeming hope that love really DOES overcome anything. I love you all very much.”

Bad Gyal ‘Choque’
Spanish singer-songwriter Bad Gyal brings the spirit of early reggaeton to life with the release of ‘Choque,’ a new single from her upcoming album, Más Cara. ‘Choque’ demonstrates Bad Gyal’s ability to honor reggaeton’s impact while making it distinctly her own, establishing her as one of the genre’s most innovative and influential voices.

Good Neighbors ‘Blue Sky Mentality ‘
In honor of the promising blue skies that follow a nuclear season, the UK duo Good Neighbors released Blue Sky Mentality (Complete Edition), an expanded version of their highly acclaimed debut album, closing the door to their most recent era. The album was written on tour bus bunk beds, between truck stops, and in crammed vans. Pairing luminous synths with anthemic choruses, the album explores distance and belonging, grief and optimism, and the quiet strength found in togetherness. The Complete Edition extends that vision, offering a new perspective on a record that has already become a touchstone for listeners worldwide.
