Nicki Minaj Fronts Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2022 Heaven Campaign
The rapper is joined by Steve Lacy, Yung Lean, Sky Ferreira, Paloma Elsesser, and actress Mena Suvari.
The campaign for Heaven Spring 2022, shot by Harley Weir, was released on Thursday, coinciding with the first of three drops of the Spring 2022 season. Blending the past and present of the arts, the collection is formed to inform the present youth culture of the history of fashion, television, and film. It navigates nostalgic adolescence and rebellion, playing with psychedelic daydreams of the young at heart.
Fronted by Nicki Minaj, the campaign also features Steve Lacy, Yung Lean, Sky Ferreira, Paloma Elsesser, and actress Mena Suvari to contribute to a nostalgia that perfectly encapsulates what people love about teen angst. Nicki wears a Heaven graphic t-shirt, black fishnets, and black Kiki boots with her classic neon hair.
In another image, Steve Lacy wears a frayed knit vest with luminescent neon green pants as he raises a match to his tongue “Jennifer’s Body” style. But what ties the nostalgia together is Suvari, who played Angela Hayes in the critically acclaimed 1999 film “American Beauty,” reiterating the iconic movie poster as she lies in a bed of roses.
This drop features artwork by London-based painter Claire Barrow and photographer Ed Templeton, their art being seen across jewelry, outerwear, t-shirts, and bags. In April, the second drop will feature pieces from Comedy Central’s cult classic “Hi Octane,” which was directed by Heaven favorite Sofia Coppola while the third drop in May will include more graphics from Elliot Shields, focusing on prints by painter Alake Shilling and graphics from ‘50s animation classic “Gumby.” This collection takes the best parts of teen angst, including rising favorite Nong Rak. Nothing could be more emo than a bright pink-haired fascinator.
