Nicolas Ghesquière Shows Off His Photography Skills in Latest Louis Vuitton Campaign

New quarantine hobbies can really pay off.

With efforts to be productive during a global emergency, most people took up some form of diversion-worthy hobbies: baking banana bread, gardening, reading, even redecorating a home. But when it comes to Nicolas Ghesquière’s preferred quarantine activity, we can all humbly admit defeat on the successful hobby front. Louis Vuitton’s creative director officially flaunts his photography skills in the luxury fashion house’s latest Fall/Winter 2020 campaign.

Ghesquière photographed a group of his personal friends, family, and muses, including Léa Seydoux, Marina Foïs, Sora Choi, Akon Changkou, Dina Asher-Smith, Stacy Martin, and Noémie Merlant, at his studio on the Quai Voltaire in Paris. The campaign shows 20 of his favorite faces, capturing the essence of the classic Louis Vuitton spirit.

The Fall/Winter 2020 collection is centralized on timelessness, going back to the brand’s roots while exploring a theme of freedom – one that involves eccentric detailing and unlikely pairs. An ode to the year the fashion house was founded, Ghesquière also inscribes the line “SINCE 1854” among its iconic Monogram flowers on the collection’s essentials and accessories.

“I thought it would be interesting to extend my work to photography, to follow through to the end of the creative process and give the collection its final punctuation,” wrote Ghesquière in a press release.

“In this portrait gallery, everyone is there for my own personal reasons, and I liked discovering new connections with people I knew already. I also wanted to bring unity to different aspects of the House, a circular vision of what happens here… For me, moving into photography came from a desire to reflect the feeling we share when we’re working on a collection,” he adds.
