Noah Cyrus Drops New EP and Music Video

The blazing vocalist shares epiphany-inspired music on her newly released EP ‘The End of Everything.’

Never shying away from showcasing unmatched authenticity, 20-year-old Noah Cyrus just recently dropped a haunting-yet-emotional new anthem titled “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus,” off of her just released EP The End of Everything. With a double-take worthy name, the bold track embodies all of Cyrus’ musical influences and boasts her uncanny ability to bring a story to life with vivid mastery. Even better, the multi-platinum artist dropped an accompanying music video, too.

On the song’s meaning, Cyrus reveals: “Religion or spirituality can mean many different things to many different people. This song is not about or for one religion or belief system. Jesus basically represents a greater understanding and knowledge that everything has its purpose and everything will work itself out the way it’s supposed to. It will be OK, so long as we are guided by compassion and community. Both are needed more than ever right now.”

In the music video, Cyrus appears in an unfiltered, awakened state and engages with nature in a multitude of different scenarios. As the song opens, the singer-songwriter finds herself in a river delicately pouring water over herself, mimicking the procedures of an outdoor baptism. Igniting her relationship with religion, Cyrus then appreciates nature for all of its beauty and creations as she sits by a tree and admires a butterfly on her hand before discovering a majestic white horse in the following scene. As the track closes, Cyrus dances around a fire, a symbol of religious divinity, echoing the song’s chorus and title, “I got so high that I saw Jesus.”

“I was born and raised Christian with strong beliefs and still hold those values. I was smoking weed one night, and had this epiphany, then wrote the song, hence the title.” Cyrus says. “I hope this song resonates with people, especially with all that is going on in the world right now,” says Cyrus. “Humans have evolved in so many beautiful ways, but we’ve also gotten so out of touch with the world, and each other. We’ve all lost sight of so many of the simplest things.  As PJ, who I wrote the song with put it: it’s about extensional dread. What I love about the song is the multiple meanings it holds and how it will effect and each and every listener differently.”
