NYFW Kicks Off with Dynamic Panel of Industry Insiders

The panel spoke on topics ranging from industry inclusion, the Metaverse, NFTs, and more.

Set in a sprawling warehouse in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, New York Fashion Week was given a well-received kickoff as fashion lovers, publicists, and industry leaders gathered for a wide-ranging conversation. Discussion moderator Ketia Jeune, known as The Pink Publicist, was joined by Thermal Taveras of WHENSMOKECLEARS, designer and VP of Calvin Klein; Willy Chavarria, producer Cassandra Pintro, style writer of Highsnobiety Alexandra Pauly, publicist Ah-Niyah Gold, and digital editor of CFDA; Nicky Campbell.

A main theme throughout the discussion was the hot-button topic of the intersection of fashion and technology. Discussing of-the-moment phenomena like NFTs, CGIs (computer generated imagery), and the Metaverse, guests were treated to a firsthand glimpse into the future of the industry.

Not only highlighting exciting tech-lead innovation, the panelists also touched on accessibility and exclusivity in the industry, driving home that technology has given those once dubbed ‘fashion outsiders’ an opportunity to gain access to the tight-lipped industry. Veering in several different directions, the engaging conversation also highlighted the importance of representation and inclusion in all facets of the industry.

Joining the panelists for the enticing discussion were dozens of New York’s music, art, fashion, and cultural leaders who certainly garnered a glimpse into the forthcoming evolution of the industry. To round out the discussion, moderator and publicist Ketia Jeune underscored the value in bridging together varying roles and positions to find the intersectionalities that exist in the industry.
