“Off to the Races” for Miu Miu Resort 2020
Miu Miu goes to a horse racetrack for its Jockey-inspired Resort 2020 collection.
Miu Miu’s latest show took place at the very Instagrammable Hippodrome d’Auteuil, a Paris steeplechase track dating back to 1873. It was the perfect scene for the ‘Jockey’-inspired collection.
In attendance were Celine Dion and Nicole Richie, who is in Paris shooting a new show for Amazon Prime with Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell.
The show was Miu Miu at its best: fun, girly, and serious about fashion. Miuccia Prada offered a strong collection with a whole lot of options; separates, printed summer dresses, playful knits and masculine tailoring.
Looks were partially inspired by the 1960’s Chelsea Girl trend (short hems, high-waisted shorts, collared dresses, newsboy hats and captain caps) a style that originated in England that was quickly adopted by international youth. The show referenced the professional horse racing world, as seen in sweaters, color-blocked and striped in the fashion of traditional Jockey’s jerseys.
The most successful pieces were the feminine mini dresses with embroidered pouf-sleeves and the stella range of accessories, in particular the shoes. Sky-high platforms in mono colored plastic and floral prints were worn over the sweetest bobby socks. Other style details included floppy-brimmed hats worn over baseball caps, as well as oversized tweed blazers worn with the sleeves pushed up past the elbow.
