OMEGA’s Secret Garden Reveals the Brilliance of Women and Watches

The Miami-based art exhibition emphasizes the time is now.

Step into OMEGA’s Secret Garden, where the Miami-based art installation unveils the power of women and celebrates their past, present, and future journeys in navigating societal constructs in a world built to benefit men.

Conveniently tucked away in Miami’s trendy Design District, on July 29th, its opening night, visitors were welcomed by a grandiose archway, leading into a baroque-style garden engulfed in rich greenery of 17th-century topiary. Along its regal hedges, modern art structures offset relics of the past with modern touches of mirrored rooms embellished in current OMEGA fashion.

As night fell, the DJ was replaced by a string quartet, while partygoers comprised of industry professionals, creatives, and influencers sipped champagne, tried the latest OMEGA hardware, and peered through the glass casing displays of the brand’s women’s watches from the 19th century to modern-day styles of this year.

Centered at the close of the time traveling art exhibition through OMEGA’s rich past, lies its gilded gazebo spotlighting seven, diverse leading industry women and the latest campaign ambassadors: Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Allyson Felix, So-hee Han, Dongyu Zhou, Kaia Gerber, and Kiko Mizuhara.

Following the opening night of the exhibition, leading female industry titans gathered for an intimate panel on the second floor of OMEGA’s Miami boutique. An impactful, inspirational, and emotionally charged discussion ensued, led by Eva Hughes an entrepreneurial coach who rose the ranks of Vogue Mexico–without a college degree–to Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and eventually CEO of Condé Nast Mexico.

Hughes was joined by Michelle Alban, Vice President of Paramount Communications, Publicity & Social Impact–Latin America & US Hispanic, and Maria C. Alonso, Board Member of US Century Bank, and together, the three Latinx female powerhouses dove freely into a discussion without mincing words or emotions.

Underlining “significance over success” their candor scrutinized the ability to uphold personal values despite popular opinion while honoring the complex layers of what it means to be a woman of color in business. Each described their own journeys in vigilantly carving out space in the world with an operative notion of integrity and strength while acknowledging vulnerabilities and fears. As they closed, the majority of attendees–including the panel–had tears in their eyes. Perhaps for the very first time, sentiments often overlooked for mere survival, are the exact patterns the audience needed to face to grow.

Beyond the event’s mystical aesthetic, lies a tale of strength and resilience. Akin to the process of forming a diamond, after years of pressure, subdued and stifled beneath the weight of male hierarchy, the journey of growth for women around the world is one worth honoring. As the female community continues to forge ahead, one might suggest they are society’s best-kept secret, but women have always been eager to share their brilliance with the world.
