Opening Ceremony and Teva Meet Again
Hybrid sneakers for this hybrid weather.
It’s that time of the year where days are getting warmer yet an air of winter still lingers. Opening Ceremony and Teva have teamed up once again to bring you the perfect hybrid for these sunny but brisk days. Introducing “The Hurricane Sock,” a flexible, knit shoe made from lurex yarns with recycled, adjustable polyester straps and chunky rubber soles—a new take on ‘sock sneakers.’
This is the fourth collaboration between Opening Ceremony and Teva. Since 2014 they have come together to reimagine the active sandals, creating satin versions to color-blocked platforms. Last week they launched “The Hurricane Sock,” the first out of three limited-edition shoes for Spring/Summer 2020. The sneaker-sock hybrid comes in two monochromatic colors—black and slime green, with a touch of futuristic flair. The other two are Flatform Universal and the Hurricane XLT2 Gladiator. The Hurricane Sock retails for $150 in unisex sizing and the other styles will launch later this month and April.
“When Opening Ceremony first teamed up with Teva in 2014, Carol and I were excited to partner with such an iconic brand that we loved when growing up in California, exploring the outdoors,” said Opening Ceremony co-founder Humberto Leon. This is not the first high-end label Teva has teamed up with to create designer active footwear or “ugly-chic” as some may call it. The footwear brand has also collaborated with Anna Sui, Outdoor Voices, Publish, Herschel, and Jhene Aiko. Looks like we are at a time where style and comfort are no longer mutually exclusive.
