Palm Angels’ Fall 2021 Collection Is All About Skate Culture

This fall collection is a great combination of comfort and couture for all your autumn needs.

Palm Angels new fall collection will make you look casually fabulous. The laid back designs seem casual, but are subtly tailored for high end fashion. This collection is understated couture the echos the fashion taste of tech billionaires or famous R&B artists: quality but comfortable. Though Palm Angels started as a fashion label in 2015, before that is was an art project set on documenting the skater culture in Los Angeles. They are one of the few brands who released a Fall collection (instead of a Spring one), and breaking from the fashion week cycle. Half a decade into their existence the brand’s style remains focused on skater culture.

The collection features a several drawstring hoodies, some plain others with dead teddy bears. But the event of the collection is the track suits. Each track suit is in a solid color with a black and white stripe on the side, similar to Addidas’ clothing. These track suits are reminiscent of Kim Kardashian work out clothes when she is spotted hanging out around Los Angeles. Along with loose fitting garments, Palm Angels highlighted it’s tailoring in this collection. There are a series of blazers and coats that while being oversized give structure to an outfit.

This collection captured Los Angeles streetwear. These garments could be seen on Billy Eilish or a teenager at your local skate rink. Palm Angels elevated the casualness of streetwear into something refined. Their long chain necklaces are reminiscent of the 2000’s. This line captures something of the past and brings it to the present.

Though there is a casualness in their garments, the color choices and patterns make it easy to take this clothing from casual to creative. Their basics come in a series of bright colors, and they include patterns like zebras and stars. With layering Palm Angels either be overblown with pattern or plain.

This collection is focused on the meshing of dissimilar things. It connects the 2000’s to today. It connects streetwear with high end fashion. It connects exaggeration with subtlety. Somewhere in the middle Palm Angels found a collection that combines identities, and made something that is for everyone.
