The 10-year-old brand Palm Angels has collaborated on a collection with the nearly 70-year-old brand Missoni. Both Italian brands are quite different but are a match made in heaven with Palm Angels’ urban-focused and skateboard-inspired clothing and Missoni’s psychedelic patterns and designs.

By fusing the Missoni concept of a freewheeling mixture of patterns and lengths, colors, volumes and shapes, with Palm Angels’ creative director and founder Francesco Ragazzi has created a tropical clash, spray paint yet sharp, and boxy tailoring. Under the guidance of the creative director of one of the longest-standing Italian brands Angela Missoni looking back at Missoni archives through the lens of the urban brand called for trims, oval-shaped logos that turned into shoulder bags, and blown up patterns and jacquards.

In a photoshoot with photographer David Sims, there are tracksuits and zip-ip cardigans in Missoni patterns, combining a ‘70s vibe with a bolder, current focus. Spray smudges cover sweatshirts and oversized t-shirts that double as dresses, trousers and skirts are straight and loose, and berets, sneakers, sandals, and totes add to the subculture theme.

The press release for the launch included Francesco Ragazzi’s comments on the collaboration. “Missoni is an authentic landmark of Italian creation and artisanal know-how,” says Ragazzi. “With this collaboration, we wanted to offer a different take, my own take actually, on the Missoni heritage. A fusion of both DNAs, with an urban, relaxed feel.” 

Angela Missoni also commented, “I have been drawn to Francesco’s work with Palm Angels from the very beginning, for its unique energy. My parents founded Missoni on an open mindset: a pioneering spirit which I brought forward through all the collaborations I developed over the years. I am particularly proud of how fresh and spontaneous the dialogue with Palm Angels came out.”
