PANGAIA and Takashi Murakami Come Together for a New Collection for MoMA
The collab launches in partnership with the museum’s Design Store
The celebration of the intersection between art and design is here, with the newest collaboration between sustainable clothing champion PANGAIA and artist Takashi Murakami. The two are coming together for collection that will be released in partnership with the MoMA Design Store, part of NYC’s Museum of Modern Art.
Following their first outing together in May 2020, PANGAIA and Murakami’s collab aims to bring attention to the artist’s style while also highlighting PANGAIA’s newest initiative, #BeeTheChange. The collection will feature T-shirts and hoodies with Murakami’s signature Flower Bomb and Smiling Flower designs on them, alongwith a colorful bee character bringing the bee conservation aim to light.
Of course, it’s not a PANGAIA collection without eco-friendly materials involved, and this one is no different. The hoodie is made of heavyweight recycled cotton, while the T-shirt is seaweed fiber. Environmentally friendly dyes also come into play, making use of the brand’s earth friendly and high tech naturalism.
The gender-neutral collection will be available via the MoMA Design Store, because of their association with high design sensibilities and because three of Murakami’s works are featured at the Museum. The collection will soon be ready for purchase on the store’s website this week.
