Parisian Attitude Takes on a New Form at Givenchy: Introducing VOYOU

Fed up with micro trends? So is Givenchy. Synonymous with versatility, VOYOU is not a phase; it’s here to stay. Dressed up or down, Givenchy’s latest handbag might just be the investment your wardrobe needed all along.

More often than not, the it-bag of the season takes form in some dazzling geometric abstraction. An enchantment of vestiary statement, yet impractical by nature, leaves one to wonder if there’s actually a bag out there that can uncomplicate your life while satisfying the glamour we insatiably crave.

Cross-pollinating the glamorous attitude of the Parisian and the practicality of American street style, Givenchy launches VOYOU. Slang for bad boy a la française, the new bag on the scene overlaps left-bank sophistication with a leather-clad biker edge. Delectably slouchy and sagging with a statement, the House’s latest addition to its family creates a language of codified luxury.

Creative Director Matthew M. Williams’ urban MO is undeniably a driving force that has reasserted Givenchy to international stardom. With each invention sent down the runway, his personal narrative of all the geographical coordinates he’s traversed continues to unfold. Extending the laid-back edge lining California’s streets to the chic attitude of Paris, Williams translates house codes with a sleek sheen of effortless style.

Posh and expansive, yet a featherweight deep down, the convenience of a hobo bag is kicked up a notch—this time with Givenchy’s lexicon of unrestrained opulence. With zippered compartments impeccably optimized for storing your keys, smartphone, and wallet, it seems the style savant on the run is the muse behind the House’s latest endeavor.

Glistening in ever-so-subtle, grained calfskin, VOYOU asserts that luxury is not only meant to be seen; it must also be felt. Cornered with turned edges and accentuated with V-shaped straps, Williams and his team bid farewell to the sclerotic handbags proliferating on the runways to a newer, more anatomical mode.

With its medium and large-sized variations, VOYOU folds over naturally, adapting to its wearer’s form. Born from the desire for a highly adaptive handbag and the refusal to relinquish an inch of charm, it can be styled in long or short modes, including hand-carry or cross-body wear. Adjustable straps embossed with metallic ‘Givenchy’ lettering allow its wearers to dictate its allure.

With a surfeit of decadent materials, Givenchy presents its newest bag in hues of black, ivory, silk pink, and mint green tumbled leather. Its medium size offers exclusive editions in gunmetal laminated texture leather, leather-free crafted denim, and silver leather. That’s not all. Its mini size also takes form in a stunning, satin take embellished with silvery strass for a night out that calls for an extra dash of attitude.

“I wanted to revisit fashion archetypes with a kind of new language and a playful attitude,” said Creative Director Matthew M. Williams, “With the VOYOU, you know at a glance that it’s Parisian, but it’s at home wherever it goes, and it makes an everyday style statement that has true staying power.”

VOYOU varies in price ranging from $1,500 to $2,250. With a highly anticipated release date of February 10th, Givenchy continues to break down the barrier between form and function—never compromising its scintillating edge.
