Pastel Prominence: A Capsule By Casablanca x The Webster For Miami Art Basel
On a pastel color palette, works exude a heritage soft-hued aesthetic.
The acclaimed luxe-house of Casablanca Paris took their label bi-coastal, merging with multi-brand retailer The Webster to drop an Art Deco-inspired capsule in lieu of the 20th anniversary of the infamous Art Basel Miami. Lifting from the pastel-drenched design language of Miami’s historic architectural district of South Beach, where over 800 art deco buildings reside within one square mile—from Ocean Drive to Washington Avenue—the collection pays homage to an imaginary Casablanca Arts Club.
“The Webster is an institution in Miami. From the very first time I visited Miami, it was a huge inspiration for me. A hybrid of luxury and tropical America altogether. This was very much an inspiration, drawing from the strong architecture and design of the city. The Webster is not the store of yesterday, they are still pushing forward from every angle. The designs of the collection are inspired by South Beach, art deco and neon night. It’s an homage to Miami’s iconic skyline,” shared Charaf Tajer, Founder and Creative Director of Casablanca
Similar to the house’s dream-like Tennis Club, the Arts Club is a pleasant ode to the advanced artisans and in-house artists who all have applied their inimitable approach to the meticulousness of the brand. Reimaged through a Casablanca lens, specifically for The Webster, fantasy landscapes and architectural silhouettes emerge, appearing across long and short-sleeved silk shirts and padded quilted skirts and jackets. Crochet, a signature of the house, appears again in gradient pastels throughout bags, bucket hats, bikinis, and skirt sets. Meanwhile, track tops and cotton sweatshirts are reimagined with unique art deco typography and symbology that is both now synonymous with Casablanca and the Floridian lifestyle, such as oranges and sculptural elements.
One-off pieces such as a South Beach-hued Casablanca towel, a pastel monogram iteration of the now-iconic PinkWave sunglasses, and an exclusive Casablanca candle depicting a pastel pink imagined building crafted by sculptural candlemaker David Ochoa are also available.
The Casablanca Arts Club capsule collection made exclusively for The Webster launched on November 28th at The Webster’s 20,000-square-foot flagship Miami Beach store. Located in a historic art deco building in South Beach – designed by architect Henry Hohauser – the immersive installation will remain live until December 19th, 2022, and is currently available online at The Webster.
