What is the Tom Ford brand without Tom Ford himself?
That question has kept fashion obsessives curious since Ford sold his label earlier this year. But as it turns out, with Peter Hawkings as Creative Director, the Spring 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection doesn’t stray far from the fashion house’s origins.
Showing in Milan, the collection held archetypal Tom Ford glamour close to its chest. With belts referencing Tom Ford-era Gucci and a surplus of black and gold contrast, Hawkings showed a clear respect for the brand’s history and ethos of easy sophistication.
Inspired by Donyale Luna, the Detroit-born Black supermodel, this collection of womenswear is simple yet slinky. Pairing precise blazers with short shorts and long gowns with minimal accessories, the collection is classic and contemporary at once.
