PLACES+FACES Launches Polaroid Hardcover Book

Titled ‘POLAROIDS, by PLACES+FACES,’ the book is a collection of photos documenting the likes of Quentin Tarantino, A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, and more.

Established in 2013 by friends and colleagues Imran Ciesay and Solomon Boyede, aka Ciesay and Soulz, Places+Faces began as a blog focused on the intersection of the arts, hip-hop, and fashion. Since, the brand has navigated a bevy of creative realms all the while creating fashion pop-ups, DJing around the world, and photographing the likes of Kanye West, A$AP Ferg, Lil Yachty, and more. “The original concept for Places+Faces was for it to be a Tumblr that Soulz and I would upload photos of musicians and shows we went to,” Ciesay explained to V. “From there it grew into what it is now which is a lifestyle and media company.”

Now, the brand is releasing a hardcover book of the pair’s most notable polaroids featuring friends, family, stylists, models, musicians, actors, photographers, and everything in between. Though Places+Faces has released zines and magazines in the past, this is their first hardcover project. “We already have done magazines featuring our photos. So for our first ever book, we wanted to do something different that was still on brand for us which is a book of never-before-seen polaroids,” the pair stated.

Taken in cities around the world, the book’s polaroids date back to 2014 and as recently as 2021. Not only releasing the book in physical form, the brand is staging an exhibition in London to celebrate the launch and display the polaroids physically for fans of the brand to see. “As well as having the pictures in a book, we wanted to have the photos displayed in their original form so people can truly see the power of the photos,” Ciesay and Soulz stated.

On display at Protein Studios in London, an invite-only opening party will take place on February 18th, with the whole exhibition on view for the general public on the 19th and 20th. “We haven’t done an exhibition or a pop up in London in so long,” the duo said to V. “[We] are super exited for people to come down and see, [as] this the exhibit will be open for the general public.”

‘POLAROIDS, by PLACES+FACES’ is available for purchase online at placesplusfaces.com and in-store at Dover Street Market London.
