Polly Pocket Goes to Milan

Polly Pocket trades the toy aisle for the catwalk in a playful capsule by GCDS that turns nostalgia into high fashion.
Mattel and GCDS have teamed up once again to reimagine Polly Pocket, not as a toy but as a fashion statement. This latest collaboration is part of Mattel Creations, the brand’s design-driven platform celebrating pop culture, fandom, and play. The new collaboration reintroduces the tiny icon through a distinctly Italian lens.

Designer Giuliano Calza first brought Polly into the GCDS universe back in 2018, debuting a look during Milan Fashion Week. In 2024 the two released the Heart Bag, which unveiled on the Fall/Winter runway. The bag opened just like the original compacts, revealing a lineup of miniature dolls tucked inside.
Now, Polly Pocket returns in a new capsule collection and collectible compact that blends imagination with high design. Designed by Calza, the capsule reflects a shared love for storytelling, individuality, and cultural expression. Alongside the doll herself, the collection features fully sized Polly inspired clothes.

At the center is a brand-new compact inspired by vintage play sets with a little GCDS edge. From Milanese street scenes to tiny cafés, it captures not just a toy’s fantasy, but a lifestyle.
“Polly Pocket has always used its tiny worlds to inspire big imagination,” said Chris Down, Chief Design Officer at Mattel. “With GCDS, that sense of wonder becomes something bold and expressive. Giuliano’s vision transforms a beloved icon into something unexpected and entirely new.”

This isn’t just a throwback. It’s campy—part archive, part runway, part souvenir. Polly Pocket becomes more than a childhood memory. She’s a collectible. She’s a diva. A miniature invitation to rethink fashion as something fun, personal, and built to play.
