Ports 1961’s Fall/Winter ’21 Collection is a Celebration of Femininity
Playing with texture and silhouette, the 60th anniversary collection is a full sensory experience.
Evocative emotion, everyday warmth, feminine function and desirability: this is the Fall/Winter ‘21 collection by Ports 1961, a celebration of elegance through the lens of a new era.
In a darkened corridor, models strut like pillars of white light down a hall of shadows in the label’s digital presentation. Each look is bold, electrifying, a spin on anticipation to create something all-new, all-explorative. Ports 1961 creates clothes for the moment, and for the woman who transcends it.
Artistic Director Karl Templer champions garments that are unique and personal in this collection marking Ports’ 60th anniversary, intimacy entwined with grace and sophistication. The world has grown familiar with dressing for the indoors—layers of comfort embedded with coziness and warmth—yet Ports 1961 elevates the stay-at-home chic into something functional and elegant, interspersing chic elevation and sexy contemporary appeal with chunky knitwear, shaggy textures, the caress of a new era in the silhouette of a cocoon.
The boundlessness of the modern woman is juxtaposed with the timelessness of creative garments, creating something sensory and vivid, freeing the body and enticing the spirit in a tactile, plush experience in a palette of light cream, baby blue, midnight black, leather and knit and fur coming together to infiltrate all the senses.
Everything in the collection is made to be felt on the body—knitwear is the warmth of a hug, the protection of an embrace; a wool jumper with braided pieces of leather walks the line between classic and rebellious; a ribbed skirt and longline coat with tufts of hair spurting all over it are emblems of the future, the uniform of the tailored woman unchained.
The collection is woven into the syntax of femininity, silhouettes and shapes recreated to punctuate a new vocabulary of tailoring. Sharp cuts contrast soft drapery, while graphic prints are bold statements atop pristine white underlays. Faux fur and leather emphasize tactility, while jumpers thick as outerwear and sculptural leather coats stand as statements of celebration, personal intimacy given a new look.
Standout pieces of the collection include thigh-high emerald boots, skin-tight leather juxtaposed with a delicate butterfly heel; a chunky sky blue overcoat with exaggerated circle buttons and a wide lapel, fuzzy to the touch and boxy to the eye; a sleek, reconstructed strapless jumpsuit mimicking a high-waisted trouser, deep black with a slab of an ivory bust; and a sculptural, abstract crimson top with a cape overlay draped on the shoulders, feminine power incarnate.
Graceful motion, elegant instinct, bold intimacy—this is Ports 1961. View the full Fall/Winter 2021 collection and shop Ports 1961 here.
