Honoring the legacy of the brand’s lineage, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons showcase Prada’s Spring/Summer ‘24 Womenswear Collection in Milan featuring resurrected designs curated by Mario Prada in 1913.
Set at Fondazione Prada in Milan, Italy, the venue provided a sensory experience, bathed in the soft, dimmed hues of yellow and purple lighting. Under rows of box seats for the attendees, the flooring took on a textured, ribbed appearance in a warm tan shade, while peculiar pink slime oozed from the ceiling, cascading onto the median that separated the walking models.
The show commenced with a striking ensemble in an orchestrated nod to the collection’s overarching theme of generational reverence. A model graced the runway in a sophisticated grey belted short with shirt, accented by a flowing black silk shawl adorned with white detailing. The look was completed with knee-high black socks, structured loafers, and a silver-accented belt.
As the event continued, the collection became a contrast between the dark and light, featuring classic dresses made of superfine organza and gazar with a mystical and stylish twist. Sheer, ethereal fabrics were skillfully incorporated into the flowing dresses, creating an enchanting effect when paired with brightly-colored square or pointy-toed heels.
The collection took a captivating turn, introducing a mix of elements such as army jackets, shorts adorned with cascading sequins, and other various fabrics that gracefully fell down the front. Leather pieces, designed to exude a hint of grunge, made a notable appearance. Belts were artfully integrated into many of the looks, deliberately accentuating the curves of the models and serving as a striking visual complement to the designs.
The deliberate shift in aesthetics, juxtaposing a mystical pastel-designed dress with a dark and rugged black cargo ensemble, effectively conveyed the collection’s overall theme.
This curated fusion of styles and themes left a lasting impression on all in attendance, elevating Prada’s reputation as a trailblazer in the fashion world.
