Prada Debuts Holiday 2021 Campaign With A Short Film

Prada transports viewers to a dream-like world filled with celebration, fashion and immagination.

If there was one way to define Prada’s Holiday 2021 campaign, it would be “futuristic utopia”. The 2-minute short film, titled A Midwinter’s Night Dream, transports you to a snowy Los Angeles filled with winter blues and celebration. With festive music playing over the sound of clunky boots and the whispers of the wind, viewers are instantly lured and prepared for the holiday season. And like the apparel cladded on the actors, the film mixes fashion with fantasy, and creates a world that is almost dream-like.

Prada has always been inspired by cinema because of its way of storytelling. As a part of its appreciation for cinema, and to continue the brand’s heritage of featuring leading actors in its campaigns, Holiday 2021 showcases the following talents: Julia Garner (Ozark, The Assistant, Inventing Anna), Shira Haas (Unorthodox, Asia), Louis Partridge (Pistol, Enola Holmes) and Taylor Russell (Waves, Bones & All). All are seen wearing Prada’s newest collection, and traveling across a frozen terrain towards a joyous gatheringsymbolizing the act of bringing people together.

A Midwinter’s Night Dream is based on the original story and script by screenwriter and director Mary Harron (American Psycho, The Notorious Bettie Page, Daliland). With director Glen Luchford, the two worked together to bring the imaginary world to life with the utilization of film stills and “cutting-edge 21st-century technology.’’ This technology, called Volume, was used in The Mandalorian to create an immersive experience through the use of LED screens. Similarly, Prada’s Holiday 2021 campaign enchants viewers with its cinematic panoramas, bold imagery and ability to turn imagination into reality.
