On October 10, Prada Rong Zhai opened its doors for education and activities centered around the role of oceanic life in regulating climate. Within the opening days, 1,600 attendees took part in lectures, the exhibition and multimedia engagement.

The exhibition is being showcased at Prada Rong Zhai, the historic residence in Shanghai that was restored by the Italian luxury house in 2017. The building is devoted to cultural activities throughout the year, and SEA BEYOND can be explored in the Prada Rong Zhai ballroom, once used for formal events and featuring a captivating stain-glassed skylight.

The traveling exhibition debuted in Qingdao in October 2023 before its arrival to Shanghai. It was developed by a division of UNESCO, and students from various universities in Shanghai are available as volunteers guiding visitors through its varied experiences. Topics explored include ocean acidification, marine biodiversity and the role of individual and collective action towards environmental conservation.

Visitors can find virtual reality experiences as well as the photography of environmental photographer, Enzo Barracco. In the garden, documentaries, like “Kindergarten of the Lagoon” and “Deep White Forests,” provide education in an open-air setting. Children’s workshops and thematic panels provide engaging opportunities for both adults and children.
