Prada’s Holiday Campaign Promises Mystique
Mystery, intrigue, and holiday shopping galore.

In the new campaign for Prada’s Holiday 2020 collection, “A Stranger Calls.” The short story was written specifically for Prada by author Candice Carty-Williams, to compliment a campaign focused on the aesthetics of mystery and old-school glamour.
Five faces of the brand — Freja Beha, Maty Fall, Mao Xiaoxing, Rudolfs Valbergs and Merlijne Schorren — all come together in at the Villa Gnutti under the careful lens of Steven Meisel.
A focal point of the campaign is the new Prada Cleo handbag, first debuted in the SS21 collections. Other items include Airpods and smartphone cases, yoga mats and flame-patterned button-up shirts, all items sure to be a hit just in time for holiday shopping. A standout potential gift is a bolo tie that situates the iconic Prada triangle logo just between the collarbones.
Black and white photography captures the items in a reference to classic film noir imagery, which the fashion house claims “reconnects with early Prada moments pioneering the aesthetics of cinematic drama.” The setting, Villa Gnutti was originally made famous by a 1981 shoot from Helmut Newton. Prada repurposes these vintage references into something distinctly modern. A regal home becomes the backdrop to smartphone-chic.
The holiday collection is now available for purchase on Prada’s website. You can watch the short campaign film below.
