Ebony Bones, the acclaimed Afropunk star who has collaborated with Yoko Ono and created runway music for Alexander Wang, is back at it with her new music video for “Nephilim,” which is shared exclusively with V ahead of Bones’ forthcoming album of the same name.

The song features the Beijing Philharmonic Orchestra and was recorded in China, which raises the larger issue of censorship for Bones, who sees it coming from a personal place.

“While writing the album, I began thinking about how women have been erased historically and all the ways we silence the voices of people we don't want to hear,” said Bones. “While I have accomplished a level of success in my art, I am not ignorant to the fact that for the majority of women, and especially women of color, invisibility and not being seen or heard is a through-line for most of our careers.”
