The winter cold can be killer, which is why summery tunes are essential even this early on in the year. And thanks to Austrian duo Leyya, you can start feeling the heat — even if you're trapped in these freezing temps. The arty pop duo, comprised of Sophie Lindinger and Marco Kleehauer, is gearing up to release their sophomore album Sauna, named after where you'd like to be right now, on January 26. And today, they're premiering the latest cut from the record, appropriately titled "Heat," exclusively with V.

While the irresistible groove and layers of tropical campfire synths make this feel like the perfect carefree jam to soundtrack your tanning sessions, "Heat" actually has a more motivating message at heart.  "The song is about focusing in life and knowing what you want and to not get distracted from your plan; feeling a fire burning inside you that makes you believe you can achieve anything," the two said to V. They were particularly inspired by '60s funk on this track, emphasizing the hypnotic beat and Lindinger's confident vocals but, leaving layers for us to discover later on. "You can listen to it as a ‘simple’ pop song, but you can also dive a little deeper and realize that there is more to that," they explain. "It's always important to us that a song doesn't lose its magic after hearing it two or three times, and that there is always something to discover every time you hear it."

This belief is something that's carried over into Sauna, a sure-to-be eclectic affair that expands from Leyya's debut album Spanish Disco in a more inclusive way, taking inspiration from various instruments and genres all over the world and incorporating them into their self-described "naive" way of making music, developing a "rougher and more playful sound." "We have worked very hard the last two years on that," Lindinger and Kleehauer said. "We knew exactly what we wanted the album to sound like, and we made hundreds of sketches that we deleted afterwards just to translate the exact ideas we had in our heads into these final songs. We are extremely happy with the result, and we can't wait for the people to finally hear it and to play them live." While you wait just another week for the record, feel the "Heat" and take a listen to the new single below.
