Premiere: Liv Dawson Debuts Video For "Tapestry"

Text: Grace Walker

With a velvet voice and whimsical track “Tapestry,” British newcomer Liv Dawson has made a storming musical debut. Raw and unestablished, the 17 year old has recently come through the trusted BBC network, featuring on Annie Mac’s ‘New Faces,” as well as being promoted by Mistajam on Radio 1Xtra. Despite being the new kid on the block, Dawson has been praised for deep, echoing vocals mature beyond her years, already topping Spotify UK’s Viral 50 Chart.

The up-and-coming artist has now visualized her debut single in a psychedelic, Lana Del Rey-esque music video. In an eclectic fusion of color, soothing melodies are accompanied by flickering clips of national memory: the royal family, olympics and even classic Disney are blurred together in a melting pot of reminiscence. Any viewer will admit the production beautifully achieves its aim of jolting memory in a sharply hypnotic, yet incredibly soft composition. And with material of such rich substance, we have no doubt Liv Dawson is one to watch for the future.
