Premiere: Stalgia Soars on the Fragile "Paper Wings" of Love

You'll float, too.

You'll float, too.

If you suffer from a fear of heights, it’s probably best you never fall in love: The feeling of soaring high above the clouds is innately entwined with that fluttery butterflies-in-your-belly sensation of falling head over heels for someone. On “Paper Wings,” Los Angeles alt-pop duo Stalgia captures that weightlessness with ease.

“Baby, I’ll never love another like you / I’ll never find another like you,” lead singer Lauren Day coos on the track, her airy vocal cushioned amid a hazy wash of dreamy, lo-fi beats and floating, feathery synths courtesy of producer and partner Brandon Leslie. Together, the pair crafts lush, blissed-out R&B for fans of Banks, Tove Lo, Kiiara and Verite. It’s intoxicating.

According to Stalgia, “Paper Wings,” premiering exclusively on V, is about "that moment when you realize you’re with 'the one.’”
