Rising musician Just Loud has an apt stage name. His blend of infectious pop melodies, raw vocals, and glam rock stylings brings together the best of the ‘70s, ‘80s, and now into one proudly loud blend. He seems intent on sending us in a modern time warp—and he’s got a legend on board. Today, V premieres the music video for his new single “Soul Train”, featuring the iconic Debbie Harry of Blondie.

“Soul Train” is a soaring moment of funky guitars and soulful rasps inspired by the long-running TV show of the same name, with the Blondie frontwoman acting as its conductor of sorts. The video elevates this by showing the duo in a high-speed chase through an animated wonderland—including a Debbie Harry-fied Times Square (the only way we want our Times Square). “It’s time to bring the funk back and ‘Soul Train’ is the song to do that! Debbie Harry is the conductor on this train, and it’s an honor to have her,” he said about the momentous collaboration.

“I knew someone who was on Soul Train years ago—she got kicked off,” he added about the song’s inspiration. “When we parted ways, I was like, ‘I’m gonna write a song about that.’ It’s a rebellious record—I want everyone to get up, move, and have a good time.”

“I’m glad I had a minute to hang with Just Loud the other night in Brooklyn at my Vans show," Harry said. "Glad to be doing a little bit on his latest single ‘Soul Train.’ I actually performed on the TV show of the same name. I hope you all like the song.”

“Soul Train” is lifted from Just Loud’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, coming out on November 16. Watch the exclusive premiere of the high-energy video below.
