French electro group Yelle has proven time and time again that language is no barrier in providing bop after bop. The band, comprised of namesake Yelle (Julie Budet) and GrandMarnier (Jean-François Perrier), has been at it for years, creating icy cool and forward-thinking electropop since breaking out in 2007, even opening for Katy Perry on her 2011 tour. After releasing their last studio album in 2014, they’re back with a bouncy new single, premiering exclusively on V. “Romeo” is bound to immediately get stuck in your head — even if you don’t any words other than that hypnotic “oh oh oh” refrain.

In the midst of a slurry of downbeat tunes that are trending, especially as fall sets in, the summery vibes and pulsing synths of “Romeo” remind us that it’s never the wrong time to let loose with a good ol’ explosive pop anthem. “This bop reminds us of Safari Disco Club and its unique way of clashing cold synths and hot beats from other latitudes,” Yelle said. Notice how they don’t hesitate to call it a bop. They know exactly what they’re doing.

The new single supports their upcoming Club Party tour this fall, where they plan to reconnect and simply dance with their fans. "Get ready to sweat," they remarked. The duo is also unveiling an accompanying lyric video for “Romeo,” created by Yelle and GrandMarnier themselves, which captures the song’s brilliant aquatic tones and the perfectly pointed eclecticism of Yelle as a whole. Bop along now, and check out their tour dates below.
