Princess Nokia to Perform Live on Instagram

The rapper has joined forces with Pitchfork for a one-off special performance

Princess Nokia has just confirmed that she will be performing live on Instagram this week for a very special view-at-home event. Curated by Pitchfork magazine the series of concert sessions will see artists perform live on IG. The rest of the line up includes Flying Lotus, Buscabulla, Ohmme, and Jeff Rosenstock. Viewers and fans will have the option to donate to the charity of the performing artist choice.

Princess Nokia confirmed that her chosen charity is the Trevor Project, a national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ young people. In the past the artist has been vocal about how queer culture has shaped her identity and music. The one-off live performance will take place this Wednesday on Instagram. The New York native will perform tracks from “Everything Is Beautiful” and its companion LP “Everything Sucks”. Both albums were released early this year. At the time she said, “I’m taking it [music] to the next level in the most stupendous way.”

The albums are all about authenticity and taking no BS from anyone. It’s about owning your own narrative and staying strong. “That’s my whole thing for 2020, not only will I not let you shit on me, but I’m not going to let you disturb my peace. I’m not a garbage can.”

Princess Nokia’s performance will be live on Pitchfork’s Instagram account May 20, at 7 p.m. Eastern.
