Porneza Schouler’s latest collection weaves together texture and print. It also weaves natural and urban, raw and sensible, versatile and varied. In short, it does a lot. And at the same time, it does it so simply ー naturally and effortlessly. Classic Schouler. 

Reinterpreting traditional American codes, the luxury label’s latest collection splices scenes of the natural world’s green innocence with the regalia of a metropolitan spirit. The sensibility of the urbane emerges balanced by organic surroundings. 

Plaid motifs replace the summer stripes of seasons past, and rich earth tones monopolize the line’s color palette ー intricately woven jacquards and plush knitwear rendered in vivid shades of blue and verdant apple green. Corduroy fulfills the utilitarian requirements, while denim functions as the humble fabric it devotedly is. The body’s natural contours are accentuated by textural leather, intarsia, and shearling, garments enveloping and draping to cloak the figure on instinct.

Voluminous outerwear and draped overcoats prove generous to shape, and wide-leg trousers lend the collection a sense of ease and polish. Softening the line are pleated dresses and floral printed silks, and handcrafted leather flowers are appliquéd onto silk chiffon dresses and separates in a nod to the natural world.

Handbags are crafted to emphasize function without compromising on form. The Days Carryall Tote, a brand hero, is rendered in optic white and black, and the Silo bag evolves into an exaggerated clutch and a crossbody form. The Reade Shoulder Bag, the newest addition to Proenza Schouler’s accessories department, unites purposeful design with voguish style. Slouchy leather boots, pumps, and loafers comprise footwear.

The campaign visuals, photographed by French fashion photographer Tim Elkaïm, place the collection within the blooming landscape of upstate New York, and mid-century designer Russel Wright lends his personal residence and studio as backdrop. The brand also opened their new flagship store (a minimalist’s reverie, might we add) at 153 Mercer St. in New York City’s famed SoHo.
