Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2022

The collection brings a tropical taste to the NYFW.

Island vibe combined with a bit of urban flair, the Proenza Schouler SS22 Womenswear collection brings joy to life. After lockdown, we all deserve to embrace the world again with some vivid colors. Inspired by Hawaii, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough projected the restoratives of travel on the latest show during NYFW on Wednesday, Sep 8.

Stuck at home for months, we all miss travel. Lazaro and Jack got it, of course. Floral and animal prints with a tropical color palette, even in a city like New York, we can feel the breezes by the beach and the mist of the ocean. Just imagine putting on these eye-catching pieces when you’re back in the office – even if you need to work instead of travel, you can surely invigorate the post-pandemic offices with these colors.

Under Lazaro and Jack’s design, the basic pieces are updated with a contemporary artsy look. Even the black suit has the magic power to stun the world. Being counterintuitive and discarding the dull, all-black long suit pants, the black suit matches tight bicycle bottoms that feature swingy fringe. The fringe, adding more layers to the simple cut, is also used on the dresses’ hems. As the fringe is swinging with a catwalk,  a unique metropolitan hula dance is brought to life.
