Queen Bey Secures Her “Homecoming” Crown

Beyonce’s reign will continue through her documentary release.

Netflix has released the official trailer for “Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce”, the concert documentary following V cover star Beyonce’s historical performance at last year’s Coachella. The film follows Beyonce through an intimate perspective during preparations for her headlining act.

In 2017, Beyonce gave birth to Rumi and Sir, which led her to withdraw from that year’s Coachella lineup. In “Homecoming”, Beyonce offers a glimpse of the twins. Notably, the film may also feature Beyonce’s entire performance for the first time since it was live streamed last year.

The film trailer includes a clip of Blue Ivy following her mother’s choreography against the audio of a Maya Angelou interview. The poet’s voice echoes, “What I really want to do is be a representative of my race, of the human race.”

Appropriately, Beyonce’s 2018 performance led fans to dub the Indio music and arts festival that year as “Beychella”, where Beyonce became the first black woman to headline the festival. While she graced the stage with appearances by Jay-Z and Solange, Beyonce also reunited with Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland to showcase a few of Destiny Child’s iconic tracks. Beyonce’s stage was also the first time a Coachella performance was broadcasted outside of the Coachella YouTube stream.

“Homecoming” will be premiering April 17 on Netflix. Meanwhile, check out the trailer which has already amassed over one million views.
