Reese Cooper Looks Forward In Newest Collection

The Autumn Winter 2022 collection puts an original spin on traditional outerwear and unisex silhouettes

Entitled “Two Steps Forward,” Reese Coopers Autumn/Winter 2022 collection plays off the phrase “one step back, two steps forward,” where he depicts navigating a tumultuous year and what it’s like to push through regardless. His aesthetic is seamlessly melded into classic silhouettes with a DIY-feel, synonymous to his eponymous label.

The label, which began with menswear and introduced womenswear later, heightens traditional mens garments to a more mature and unisex feel. With a bold color palette and experimental graphics, Cooper’s vision for the future of his brand is apparent in his experimental approach to this collection, both deviating and staying true to his archive of work.

Outerwear is the focus in this collection, as gender fluid varsity jackets are paired alongside wide leg plaid trousers with matching jackets made of ripstop. Tailored pleated pants and blazers feature a screen-printed herringbone which, with the plaid pattern, were hand drawn by Cooper himself.

Seasonal camo is etched from a pine tree with the RCI logo carved into it. Footwear is reintroduced and reimagined, as last Wilson Boot makes a comeback in new color ways, and the Lanier Boot (a duck boot) is unveiled.

Originally slated to show in Paris in January, due to pandemic challenges, the collection was unveiled over Instagram Live on February 5 during an all access “Open House” with a twelve-hour livestream of the collection’s photoshoot. An exclusive capsule collection named “Logistics Dept.” also dropped on IG Live during the premiere.
