Rhude Combines Americana Prep With European Luxury for Spring/Summer 2023
Rhuigi Villaseñor returns to Paris With the ‘New Money’ collection.
After three years, Rhuigi Villaseñor returns to Sorbonne Universite for Paris Fashion Week. Villaseñor looks to the intersection of European luxury and Americana prep for Rhude’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
Blending Villaseñor’s California upbringing with today’s youth culture, the collection combines sophistication with streetwear. Cigar suits and men’s tailoring play a big role in the overall look of ‘New Money’. Cigar suits and perfectly cut blazers are paired with slouchy tank tops to create more of a streetwear look.
It wouldn’t be Americana prep without seersucker. Rhude takes the preppy pattern and transforms it into shirts, shorts, and other garments associated with the look. They stay true to the traditional colors of pink and blue with white. Accessories such as bulky belts and bomber jackets incorporate a youthful touch.
Old school style letterman shirts combine both Americana prep and European luxury as the style is trending right now. With brands such as Louis Vuitton taking a spin on the letterman look, Rhude furthers the trend with their rendition of the letterman/vintage sportswear aesthetic.
As far as the European luxury aspect, leather blazers, straight-leg jeans, and tailored suits complete the look. Straight-leg jeans are a staple of European fashion, especially the fashion of Paris. Whether they’re paired with a nice jacket and button-up shirt, or an oversized cardigan and plain tee, they’re a piece that will never look out of place or go out of style.
Overall, Villaseñor and Rhude create the perfect collection of garments that both the preps of America and the fashionistas of Europe would approve of. ‘New Money’ Spring/Summer 2023 combines luxury, comfort, and street style in an effortless way.
