Rihanna (Finally) Talks Ninth Album

The Barbadian songstress confirmed her highly anticipated 9th studio album in a recent interview. Fans and admirers of the singer have begun speculation of collaborators and have given the project a moniker before its release.

It has been nearly three years since the singer released a full length album. Following the release of ANTI, Rihanna has taken a hiatus from music to focus on her businesses; augmenting Fenty Beauty and becoming the first black woman to launch her own luxury fashion label in partnership with LMVH in the process. Though she has teased new music on social media, fans of the Barbadian ‘Bad Gal’ have long awaited her return. Her collaborative film ‘Guava Island’ alongside Childish Gambino (which debuted at Coachella) offered a glimpse into the island life in which the singer has often referenced as inspiration for some of her most popular songs.

This inspiration has influenced her upcoming reggae album; which fans have labeled ‘R9’ proceeding its official release. Rihanna’s confirmation of her highly anticipated forthcoming album has prompted fans to closely examine her every move. In an interview with T Magazine, the singer shut down rumors of collaboration with Drake, saying that any work with the ‘What’s my name?’ collaborator won’t be happening on this album or anytime soon. Rihanna also declined rumors of collaboration with Lady Gaga who is also rumored to be releasing an album in the eminent future. For now, the waiting game for fans and admirers of the singer continues.
