Rihanna will be honored at this year's Parsons School of Design Benefit for her support of young designers—specifically, Parsons grads—and humanitarian work. She will also be honored alongside Eileen Fisher and Neiman Marcus.

"Parsons is proud to present Rihanna with this honor, as she has inspired millions through her powerful music and distinct style." said Joe Towers, Executive Dean of Parsons.

The annual benefit honors those in the design community, raises scholarship funding for the university, and showcases the works and new talent of the school's fashion students.

Last year Rihanna wore a pleather jacket made by Ya Jun Lin, a recent Parsons graduate, from her thesis collection to the 2016 VMA's. She has also been seen wearing work made by alums Adam Selman and Matthew Adams Dolan.

“She is also creating important philanthropic programs, which support communities by fostering effective education, health, and emergency response programs around the world through her Clara Lionel Foundation,” added Towers.

This will be the singer's second collegiate award. Last month, Rihanna was named Humanitarian of the Year by Harvard University for her work in promoting and providing healthcare and education in the Caribbean.

“It’s such a thrill to know that a design school as prestigious as Parsons School of Design would present me with this honor. I consistently find creative and exciting designs coming from Parsons alumni, so I feel a deep connection to the school,” said Rihanna to The Cut, adding, “I am especially grateful that Parsons would recognize me for the work I’ve done in regards to philanthropy.”

The 69th Annual Parsons Benefit will take place May 22nd at Pier 66 in New York City.
